Jim Peterson
Title
Jim Peterson is a Senior Advisor at M.J. Beck Consulting, LLC where he has primarily been involved with utility resource procurements; the drafting and negotiation of Power Purchase Agreements and Firm Transmission Capacity Purchase Agreements on behalf of utilities and other market participants; and project oversight activities associated with the construction of new power resources including offshore wind, solar facilities and battery storage projects. Jim has more than 40 years of utility related experience that includes overseeing the Planning, Power and Transmission Contracts, Project Management, Fuel Supply and Energy Scheduling functions of the Long Island Power Authority. Prior to LIPA, Jim oversaw the power and transmission contracts and billing functions of the New York Power Authority where he was employed for 23 years. Before his NYPA experience, Jim worked for American Electric Power Service Corporation where he was involved in power contract negotiations and the development of retail and wholesale electric rate filings with regulatory agencies. He began his career at the New York Public Service Commission, first on staff reviewing retail utility rate filings and then in the Office of Administrative Law Judges preparing Recommended Decisions. Jim has a Bachelor of Engineering (Industrial) from Pratt Institute and an MBA from Pace University.
